Mayer University Dormitory
The new university dormitory within the area of the former Mayer Hotel in Trento is a building composed of a basement floor in reinforced concrete designed to be a garage and service rooms and five aboveground floors realized with a supporting structure in panels of Essepi XXL X-Lam wood, made from FSC-certified spruce from the Val di Fiemme. The three volumes in a horseshoe shape accommodate approximately 130 beds and a series of common areas. The element that is the absolutely latest in the construction panorama not only in Trento, but elsewhere as well, is the construction system with modules (cells) that were preassembled at the Essepi XXL factory in Cavedine, ready to be transported and installed directly at the building site, including the electrical systems, drywall panels, and windows with the Essepi design and technology. The prefabricated cells made possible the maximum care with the aesthetic and construction details, as well as the highest performance with thermal and acoustical insulation, in addition to the latest in antiseismic technology.
